This Privacy Policy explains how VegasMode ("we", "our", "the app") collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you use our social event application.
1. Data We Collect
Account Information
When you register, we collect:
- Name and display name
- Email address (via Firebase Authentication)
- Date of birth (age verification)
- Gender
- Password (stored securely by Firebase Auth, never accessible to us)
Profile Photos and Selfies
VegasMode requires a verified selfie at registration as part of our anti-fraud system. This selfie is stored securely in Firebase Storage and is used to confirm that you are a real person. You may also upload up to two additional profile photos from your gallery.
Location and Events
We do not collect your GPS location. Event-related location information (venue name, city) is provided manually by event organizers and stored in Firestore.
Interaction Data
We collect data related to your in-app interactions, including:
- Likes and matches with other users
- Private chat messages exchanged between matched users
- Event check-in records (including QR scan activity)
- "I'm going" participation signals
Device and Technical Data
We collect standard technical data including:
- FCM (Firebase Cloud Messaging) device token for push notifications
- Device operating system and version
- App language preference
2. Firebase Services
VegasMode is built on Google Firebase. The following Firebase services are used:
- Firebase Authentication – manages user accounts and identity
- Cloud Firestore – stores user profiles, events, chats, matches, and check-in records
- Firebase Storage – stores profile photos and selfies
- Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) – sends push notifications for matches, messages, and events
- Firebase Cloud Functions – executes server-side logic including event deletion and notification dispatch

3. How We Use Your Data
- To create and manage your account
- To verify your identity and prevent fraud via selfie verification
- To display your profile to other users at the same event after check-in
- To enable likes, matches, and private messaging between matched users
- To process event check-ins via QR code
- To send push notifications related to matches, new messages, and events
- To enforce our Community Guidelines and Terms of Service
- To respond to support requests
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We do not share your data with third parties except:
- Firebase / Google – as the infrastructure provider
- Legal obligations – when required by law, court order, or to protect safety
- Admin moderation – Global Admins can view user profiles and reports to enforce guidelines
5. Profile Photos and Selfies
Your selfie is uploaded to Firebase Storage and linked to your account. It is visible to other users on your profile. It is used internally to confirm your identity. You may update your profile photos at any time from your profile settings.
We do not use facial recognition technology on your selfies for automated identity matching. Verification is manual and policy-based.
6. Private Messages
Private chat messages are stored in Cloud Firestore and are only accessible to the two matched users in the conversation. Our admin team may review flagged conversations when a formal report is submitted, strictly for moderation purposes.
7. Security
We implement the following measures to protect your data:
- All data is transmitted over HTTPS/TLS
- Firestore Security Rules restrict access so users can only read/write their own authorized data
- Firebase Storage Rules prevent unauthorized file access
- Cloud Functions validate user identity server-side before performing sensitive operations
- Push notifications include sender/recipient validation to prevent self-notifications
8. Data Retention
Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your profile, photos, chat history, check-ins, and matches are permanently deleted from our systems, subject to a short processing period.
9. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:
- Access the data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your account and all associated data
- Object to certain data processing
- Data portability

10. Account Deletion
You can permanently delete your account directly from the app via Settings → Delete Account. This action is irreversible and will remove your profile, photos, matches, messages, and check-in history.
11. Minors
VegasMode is intended for users who are 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If we become aware that a minor has registered, the account will be removed.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance.
